Make ur own website
It use to be the case, that only computer experts could hope to sit down and create a website worth visiting. No more, today anyone can create a great looking website, without any special web development skills. Differentiating your website from the pack comes from your own creativity and knowledge, not from your technical abilities. On this page we will compare the different ways of how to make ur own website.
The CMS VS traditional web pages
Tradition web pages are like Microsoft Word Documents. You have a doc file and you use Microsoft Word to view it. Just like that you have the html files and you open them with Internet Explorer. The only difference is html files are on a remote web server, while the doc files are on your hard drive.
It does take some technical knowhow to edit traditional web pages. With a CMS(Content Management System) making ur own website is much easier. The CMS is like a program running on the web server. A good web host will allow you to login to your control panel and install one of the more popular CMSs with a few clicks.
Once you have installed the CMS you can log into the CMS’s admin area. From there you can easily add pages to your website.
Even skilled web developers frequently use CMS’s to make a site, for 2 reasons:
1. It is easy to download a free theme for your CMS, instantly giving it a great look.
2. There are many free and powerful plugins for most CMSs which greatly increase their functionality.
There are 2 types of CMSs and we will look at the most popular ones in each category.
Wordpress
Wordpress is a blog. Blogs are a great way to make ur own website, if you are going to update your blog frequently. Blogs are setup in such a way as to keep the freshest content on front page. This keeps your readers coming back to read your most recent posts. Wordpress is well optimized to rank well with the search engines. Also Google loves the frequently added content.
Joomla
If you want to make ur own website with a traditional layout. Joomla is the quickest and easiest way to do it.
Search for free Joomla extentions, to find plugins that expands Joomla’s functionality and Search for free Joomla templates to get a nice look for your Joomla site.
Make ur own web pages
Of course you don’t have to use a CMS to make your website. If you want, you can make the pages and site with an html editor.
There are 2 good options to help you do it:
Publisher comes standard with Microsoft Office, so you probably already have it. It’s a great web page creation tool for beginners.
Dreamweaver is the alternative for professionals. I use it to create php pages and it’s very good for thatpurpose .
Hopefully you now have a clearer idea of how to make ur own website.
Make Money on the Internet
As many people have discovered the internet is a great place to make money. Whether you are an entrepreneur looking to make a fortune or a student looking to earn some extra cash, you can profit from knowing, how people make money on the internet.
Making money on the internet comes down to two methods: Pay per click advertising and affiliate sales.
Pay per click Advertising
Like the name says, you put an ad on your web page an every time some clicks on it, you get paid. Google’s Adsense program is the most successful program. They got there because they have the greatest number of advertisers; also their system reads the content of a webpage and then returns ads relevant to that content.
Now, not all clicks are equal, some niches, like insurance, earn much higher pay outs per click than others. You can use Adsense’s keyword tool to research the relative value of a click. Look for the “show estimated average CPC” setting. You can expect to make about 40%, of that for a given niche.
Affiliate Sales
With affiliate sales you refer someone to a site and if they buy something, on that site, you get a percentage of the sales price. Say you refer someone and they purchase a $1,000 laptop and you are making 10% commission. That means you make $100. Clearly if you have the right kind of content you can make a lot more money with affiliate sales, than with PPC advertising.
So let’s look at the big players in the affiliate sales world and what they do:
Ebay: With Ebay you are looking at monetizing specialist web sites, for instance a baseball card or a coin collection site.
Clickbank: Clickbank sells online goods like Ebooks. Generally guys that send out mass emails do very well with Clickbank.
Amazon: Amazon is a good place to start. They have a very large inventory and they are very good at converting visitors into sales.
Commission Junction: CJ is a broker web site, they hook affiliate sites and publishers up with each other through their system, in exchange for a part of the sales. It is the right place for you if your content is about a service industry.

Is making money online easy?
No, it is difficult. You should be ready to work hard, fail, then work even harder. There is no shame in failing, just make sure you learn from your mistakes.
Who is this article aimed at?
I am writing this article for people that are new to making money online and want to try it out, without risking any of their own money. Still, I think those who tried making money online before, will also get something from it.
How much money can I make?
There is no upper limit on how much you can make. Some online entrepreneurs are making six figures. But in the beginning you will probably not make much and you will have to work, very hard to change that.
So how do I do it?
There are a number of sites on line that will let you post content to their sites. They then share the revenue that they make from your content with you. It sounds simpler than it is, because in order to be successful your pages must be very useful and you have to get people to come to your page. Getting both of those things right is a bit of an art.
Which is the best revenue sharing site?
There has been much competition in the market, but recently one site has surged ahead of the others. Today Hubpages is the undisputed top revenue sharing site.
Reasons why Hubpages is the best revenue sharing site:
- They give publishers a better percentage of the profits, than their competition. Generally these sites will give a 50/50 split. hubpages give you 60% of revenues from your pages.
- Hubpages is a trust site. To be a trust site, your site has to have been around for a long time. In adition you have to have a number of incoming links from high trust sites and few outgoing links to low trust sites. If you have this, it means Google trusts your site and your pages are more likely to rank well on the search engine.
- They are masters in making money from visitors to the site. This can give even the best web publishers problems.
- Their human editors will not let people publish badly written articles.
- It is possible to get very good internal links from the site. Which will make your pages look very important to the search engines and search engine traffic is the most profitable traffic.

Marketing your product using Ebay UK
If, you have a product that you are selling in the UK market. What you should be looking to build, is a base of loyal, repeat customers. These are the most valuable customers as you don’t have to spend on marketing to them. They keep coming back, because they believe in your brand.
Now, there are several ways to find these customers. In this article I will be looking at the cheapest way to do so: Marketing your product on Ebay.
How it works
Say you are selling business software from some software company. You open an account with Ebay. Then you list your product in an auction, with some minimum price that is acceptable to you. Some of the tens of millions of Ebay UK users then bid on this software product. Your product gets sold, so you wrap it up and ship it out to the buyer. Now, it is key that you include your web site address on the packaging of your product. The next time the customer has a business software need, he goes directly to your web site. He does so, because he had a positive experience with your solution and is willing to pay more, because of the trust that he has in your brand.
Note that this will not only market your product to UK customers, you may very well pickup sales from other EU countries.
Getting rid of surplus stock
Generally businesses that sell their surplus stock tend to get four times more for it on Ebay. Than by selling it off, through traditional channels. Along with a boost in brand visibility.
Setting up an Ebay shop
This might be the way to go, if you are selling multiple products. It creates a permanent listing of your products on Ebay. Customers looking for your products will be directed to an online area which is dedicated to your business. Where they can browse through all your products. You will find that many of the UK’s foremost companies have setup Ebay shops.
What is your competition doing on Ebay
Finding out what your competition is doing on Ebay is critical to your success. Find out how they are representing themselves, what their pricing strategy is, how much they are selling and so on. Then take the best from their Ebay marketing campaign and use it in your own.
Costs involved
Auctioning an item generally costs a fix price of £0.10. Along with 7% of the sales price, if a sale is made. Generally marketers find this to be a much better deal than selling through Google Adsense.
Which ever way you look at it, you can’t really afford not to have an presence on Ebay UK.

Best ftp client software for small business users
What is a ftp client?
It is software that is used to connect to a ftp server on another computer. Once the connection is established you can upload, download, edit and delete files, on the server. I use ftp software regularly because it is the best way to manage files on a web server.
As a web developer, I frequently get asked the question: “Which ftp client is best for me?”
There are 3 ftp client solutions that I can recommend. Which one you use, really depends on your needs:
Best free ftp client:
FileZilla is by far the best free software. This is a good solid basic ftp client. If you only use ftp software occasionally this is the solution for you. It’s worth noting that they have a portable version that you can run of a USB stick.
Another free option, you might consider, is for Firefox fans. It’s a plugin that turns your browser into a ftp client. You can download it at FireFTP. So you can have a full Mozilla solution: ftp, web, email and newsgroups, all free.
If your willing to pay:
Cuteftp I have been using Cuteftp for years. It really is the best solution for developers and people who need to ftp regularly. It allows you to manage many ftp accounts seamlessly and efficiently.
There is plenty of help documentation on both options, so I am not going into how to use this software.
If your PC is running a little slow you will find some easy steps to speed it up on system speed.
